Hi all! It's been forever. I've missed fandom so much but haven't had time. Lots of things had happened but they will take too long to write about and no all that important in the grand scheme of things (so says my disillusioned best friend who has reverted to his exsistental beliefs of "life is absurd so whatever" due to the results of the election). I wanted to write today to introduce a new 527 group my friend has started. Here's his blurb about it.
True American Values:
The post-election mourning period is over! We have heard much about 'values' and their role in campaign 2004 and for many of us that brings up visions of bible-thumping hate inside red-state boundaries. A more constructive look is that the term 'values' is very powerful in American politics, and progressives need a way to reclaim that term. That is exactly why the True American Values Coalition has been organized as a nation 527 organization. Our goal is to connect progressives online and locally to engage their issues and campaigns on true values. We believe that true American values include justice, freedom of religion for all, equal opportunity, and education. We need your help to get started! Once we are up and running we will connect activists together and provide them with information on what is happening on their issue both locally and nationally, and we will help them engage the media.
Looking into the medium-term we want to be a voice of reason in races that try to invoke 'values' for what really is hate. This means Senator Rick Santorum who is up for reelection in 2006 to represent Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate, it also means Marilyn Musgrave, congressmember from Colorado, and Tom DeLay, congressmember from Texas. These three have led the fight to campaign on fear of gay marriage and abortion instead of engaging actual issues. I think this coalition is very worthwhile and will greatly help break the Republican hold on our government. My friend has worked in politics for a long time so he knows what he's doing but he needs a little starting money to get the organization on its feet. Please help if you can. Anything from $1 would help. Thanks!

Just popped in to say that rumors of my death are grossly exaggerated. *dodges the rotten eggs thrown for that terrible cliche of a joke*
So I've recently read Dragon Bones and Dragon Blood by Patricia Briggs on the recommendation of several people. My gosh! The books are so slashy. Someone go read it so we could talk about it.
Oh and talking about slash, thank you guys for helping me on the article but due to some ill-timed tests, I didn't have time to finish it. But it's okay because the publication of the magazine is postponed until the beginning of the next semester so I have all summer to work on it. Here's hoping I could get my lazy ass off the sofa to go type it.

Okay guys (the two of you who actually read my livejournal :)) I need help. I'm suppose to write an article about slash for my uni's gay magazine. I sort of know about some of the history of slash but more information is always good, but it appears that many of the articles have been taken off the net so if someone could send any of them to me I'd be really grateful. Also could some people comment about their experience in fandom and maybe about what drew them into it in the first place?
I have very mixed feelings about writing this article. On the one hand, the topic is interesting and I feel that fandom has become so much a secret society. I guess that might be part of the appeal of fandom but I feel that sometimes we seem to be ashamed of ourselves and I really disapprove of that. On the other hand, I feel that it is not my place to out our existence for the reason that what we're doing is not exactly legal and it's not a good idea to draw attention to ourselves. What do you guys think?

So I was in the computer lab today working on my math homework today and I didn't log off the computer after I left. I did log off AIM though. Unfortunately for me, someone logged into my AIM account (I'm still confused as to how they did this considering that I didn't tell the computer to remember my password) and flirted with one of my friend and insulted another one. So if "I" said anything odd to you in the last 24 hours, please disregard it.

ARRRGGGHHHH!!!! I didn't think President Bush had the spine to say it but apparently he does. Compassion my ass! Stupid hypocritical bigot!!! Someone please explain to me how letting two people marry is going to "destory civilization".
*Breaths* Okay. I just needed to get that out.
Other points I found annoying:
He mentions creating new jobs. What new jobs?! I don't call creating a 1000 new jobs nationwide that great of a record.
He mentions reglious groups being discrimnated against. Ummm...separation of church and state ring a bell. Apparently not.
I don't agree with the war. I'm sure you've all heard about how he planned and wanted this war from the start of his presidency so I won't bore you with details.
I can just hear the special interest groups in every word that he said. That annoys me so much.

Hi! I'm back! Did anyone miss me? No? Okay.
Hmm...winter break was interesting. Went out with friends a lot. It's odd how a week of classes could wipe out all memory of the vacation. I feel like I never left.
I've also noticed I've been a very bad fangirl. I've lost track of all the shows and haven't sent many feedback (I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.). So my New Year's Resolution is to try to catch up on my fangirl duties. Maybe I could finish a story or two too (don't hold your breath). :)
Oh and thanks for the cards! I heart you guys. Mwah!
